On Making A Life Transition…
The Israeli’s and Hawaiians have the only words that I know that loosely translated, means “see ya later,” Good-bye/Hello. I know no other words where there’s no finality to it. Coming and going and all transition possibilities are left open. That’s how this move seems to me, and how I hope it will be.
After eight years of my Southern husband commuting weekly to DC from Northern Florida with my boarding the plane south once a month for a week, (writing and vacation time), I’ve finally gulped and made the big decision to make Florida my primary home and DC my secondary one. I’m a New York City woman born and bred and moving to DC from New York City in the seventies seemed like wilderness country by comparison, so the idea of moving to Northern Florida seemed even more of an anathema. For three years I wrestled with various permutations of living arrangements: Two homes, a different place altogether, maybe a divorce would solve the issue?
